U.S. fugitives divided on Cuba thaw

In 1984, William Potts hijacked a commercial flight to Miami, diverted it to Havana and spent nearly 14 years in a Cuban prison for air piracy. While Potts hopes a possible thaw in U.S.-Cuba relations under the Obama administration could help him go home, others hiding in Cuba fear closer ties will mean the end of a safe haven that has kept dozens of American fugitives outside the reach of U.S. law. Some of the dozens of American fugitives in Cuba fear that a thaw in the nearly 50-year-old freeze between neighbors will put them within the reach of U.S. law.
